Finding calm

Finding calm

“It isn’t enough to talk about peace. One must believe in it. And it isn’t enough to believe in it. One must work at it.” ~Eleanor Roosevelt

In the words of Eleanor Roosevelt, we're reminded that finding peace requires more than just words; action is needed. This isn't a post about all the crazy things that are going on in the world, although I could go on and on. This is a gentle reminder of the importance of actively seeking moments of calm amidst the crazy.

We often speak about "seeking" peace, right? You have to somehow go out and find it. Yet, it's important we start the search within ourselves. It could be as simple as intentionally closing your eyes, breathing, and feeling your feet on the ground.

Even in the middle of ongoing disruptions (home renovations in my case), we still have the power to create a sense of calm by starting from within and then if needed taking even more action. Whether that includes retreating to a calmer, less hectic place for a few days or carving out daily mindful practices, action is key. Now more than ever, I'm reminded that it's important to be intentional about inviting peace and calm into our days.
