London lit
Lately, I've been doing a lot more reading and writing — a habit my 8th-grade English teacher would no doubt approve. It hasn't been as difficult as one might expect, thanks in part to a wonderful writing community based in London but embraced globally, known as the London Writers' Salon.
London Writers' Salon has a lot of writing based courses on offer including four daily writing sessions appropriately named Writer's Hour and one on the weekend, where one joins a virtual room with 100-300 fellow writers (I'm a writer now) with a cup of something hot. Inspired by words of wisdom, one sets their intention, writes for 50 minutes and then reports back at the end. How did that go for you? Well, it was during one of these sessions that my latest project, this website, finally got off the ground. These sessions have been my solace the past few months.
In addition to my new writing endeavors, I've also joined a book club, the very cool Rebel Book Club (also based in London). Admittedly, I've dropped out of every book club I've ever joined. Yet, despite the stacks of books on my dresser and the myriad of titles on my Kindle, I couldn't resist the allure of meeting new people and engaging in topical discussions, especially in the realm of non-fiction works - my personal favorite.
Here's to finding solace and peace in simple joys, whatever they may be.
