Getting better
Your potential to be great at something is proportional to your tolerance to be bad at it.
I have to be honest. When I started this site, I wasn't super confident in my writing skills, let alone if I could muster writing 3x posts every week. It's a been a challenge I've committed to at least through 2023 and hopefully beyond. The prolific writer, Margaret Atwood, wisely said, "you become a writer by writing. There is no other way." I don't consider myself a writer yet, but you know what, I guess I am. And truthfully, a lot of what I will write, at least initially, won't be that great. And that's perfectly fine. In fact, it's expected. I think if I can continue to commit to writing for it every week, it will start to take shape and evolve through iteration.
Launching something, sometimes before we feel fully ready, is actually a smart move. We prepare as much as possible and mitigate risks, but then we fix, improve, iterate, mold, and shape. I'm looking forward to this journey and making changes along the way.
A few years ago, I started 'Pope's Notes,' a weekly work post informing colleagues about my world and its potential impacts. This page is inspired by that and is my way of getting ideas on paper, examining them, and understanding myself. While it started as a personal venture, I'm grateful to anyone following along and witnessing its evolution.
My mindset continues to be one of perseverance, learning, and growth. If you're willing to put up with the initial challenges that come with the learning process, there's greater potential to eventually get better and, hopefully, enjoy the process while you're at it.
